Hopefully everyone is following Peter on Instagram because he is the one that keeps up. This is just for back up and a little bit of a photo journal for us. Anyway, we miss everyone at home, but are so happy to be temple missionaries in Nauvoo. It is glorious to serve in the temple everyday.
Our temple/mission president is really good at making sure that all of us old folks have opportunities to socialize. We brought in the new year together at a party with fun games and good food. And it ended appropriately(for me) at 9pm.
Peter and I won the mummy wrap game, he can spin pretty fast!
Yes, that is nylon panyhose on his head. There is an orange in the toe and he had to knock the cups over. Harder than it looks.
Happy 2019!
We love visiting the historic sites in Nauvoo. This is the post office/storage/multi use room. The buckets are small so that children could fetch water and make themselves useful.
We have had wonderful tour guides all the way around. Sister Flanders and Sister Grigsby were fun as well as informative.
There are beautiful sunsets, this picture doesn't show the colors like it should, it was vivid reds and oranges.
Peter caught this one of the sun reflecting off of the front of the temple.
The Mississippi river is always interesting to me, especially with the sun reflecting on the water.
We visited Wilford Woodruff's home and saw some interesting things.
The box in the center is a bee box. Children would take it out and try to trap a bee in it, then take it inside and put it in the bottom of the box and put flour in the top. Then they let the flour dust the bee which makes it really mad and easy to see. Then they released it outside and followed it (hopefully) to its hive and a crop of honey.
This is Heber C Kimball's home. We love the black shutters.
This is a murphy bed! Mattresses sure have come a long way since then.

We came out of the temple Friday night to a winter wonderland! |
It was still snowing a little but it didn't stop this beautiful cardinal from paying us a visit on the tree just outside our kitchen window.
So this is the snowy view of Lucy Mack Smith's home from our kitchen window.
On Monday, we visited Burlington, Iowa to do some shopping. Peter found a new friend.
Probably the best thing about the snowfall is that Sleigh-rides have begun!!
